Synchronising Data Between Systems
Entering the same information into multiple business systems is not only a waste of time and therefore money, it is also the most significant contributing factor of bad data.
By streamlining the flow of data between business systems, companies become more efficient and more agile as they are able to respond and react quicker. Data mobilisation is fast becoming the route to leveraging the best from organisation's databases by targeted profiling of customer and prospect information.
However, it’s only viable if the information held is reliable and up to date. Having out of date information in sales and reporting systems is an assured way of diminishing your company's effectiveness.
Data synchronisation can be done in two ways. The first is flowing data from one system to the next; we call this Sink Synchronisation. Below is an example of Sink Synchronisation where data is added and updated in a Website, it then moves to a CRM system and is then transferred to the accounts and sales processing systems automatically.
The other, slightly more complex, method is when information can be updated in multiple systems and the data is propagated to all other systems. We call this Propagation Synchronisation. In this instance the flow of data goes in multiple directions. It doesn't matter which system is updated by users as the central hub (Propagator) moves the updates to all subscribing systems.
